CG RC Flyers Emergency Plan

Local Safety Procedures:

Pilot must be an AMA Current Member.

Pilot must be a CG RC Flyers Current member or pay landing fee.

Gas & Electric RC planes, helicopters or drones  weighing 20 pounds or less.

Fly within field boundaries, not over flight line, parking lot or spectators.

All aircraft must have owner’s name and AMA number affixed.

Not above 400 feet AGL.

Perform Range Test.

Drones perform Fail Safe and Return to Home procedure.

In the event of any incident that may involve:

  1. Injury to any person,

  2. Unintended contact with person, vehicle or object,

  3. Any unanticipated damage, and

  4. Outside field boundaries (fly away, lost aircraft).

Pilot, Safety Officer or Club Director must immediately:

  1. Call 911 in the event of serious injury (medical emergency) to any person.  RC Field address: 2725 South Isom Road, Casa Grande, Arizona (Across from public shooting range).

  2. Note the person’s name, contact information and nature of injuries. 

  3. Note names and contact information of the pilot and all witnesses. 

  4. Note ambulance attendants’ names, hospital destination.

  5. Note first aid provided on-site.

  6. Call 911 in the event of a fire which cannot be immediately extinguished (ie: brush fire in the wash).  RC Field address 2725 South Isom Road, Casa Grande, Arizona (across from public shooting range).

  7. Notify air traffic control Prescott Flight Service Station (FSS) 866-226-3763  or https://hotline.faa.gov/ in the event of a fly-away.  Provide pilot’s name and contact information.

  8. Notify air traffic control Prescott Flight Service Station (FSS) 866-226-3763 in the event of a near-miss (ie: with an aircraft flying over the RC field; GPS coordinates are Latitude N32 Deg 48 Min, Longitude W111 Deg 43 Min).

  9. Note RC pilot’s name and contact information, and aircraft description and registration number (ie: crop duster N12345). 

  10. Follow the Procedures After an Incident Checklist.

  11. Complete the Incident Report (attached).

  12. Contact AMA 1-800-435-9262 and file the report.

  13. Within 10 days, complete FAA incident report.

Report an Accident (Part 107)

Small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS)

The FAA requires notification of certain UAS accidents. The applicable FAA regulation states:

§ 107.9 Accident Reporting. No later than 10 days after an operation that meets the criteria of either paragraph (a) or (b) of this section, a remote pilot in command must report to the Federal Aviation Administration in a manner acceptable to the Administrator, any operation of the small unmanned aircraft involving at least:

  1. Serious injury to any person or any loss of consciousness; or

  2. Damage to any property, other than the small unmanned aircraft, unless one of the following conditions is satisfied:

  1. The cost of repair (including materials and labor) does not exceed $500; or
  2. The fair market value of the property does not exceed $500 in the event of total loss.

This report is for small UAS accidents only. If you wish to report unsafe operation of an Unmanned Aircraft, please contact your FAA Regional Operations Center.

The Casa Grande RC Flyers is an Academy Of Model Aeronautics "Award Of Excellence" and a "Gold Level Leaders Club" located in Casa Grande, Arizona.  They were also named an AMA "Club Of The Month".  A current AMA membership is required to join the club and to use the field.
